SUMMARY:

  • Mechanical Engineer with over 20 years experience in 3D part design for manufacturing, assembly, stress analysis, testing, optimization, and attendant 2D documentation.  Design specialty is cast and molded parts and systems (including complete tooling, testing, verification, and assembly fixtures and jigs).

  • Expert in CAD tools, including Pro/E, CATIA, SolidWorks, and Inventor.  Expert in all Microsoft Office software (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and advanced in image editing software (PhotoShop, Illustrator).

  • Designed and optimized product for manufacture in permanent mold casting, low pressure casting, die casting, sand casting, high-speed injection molding, rotomolding, and blow molding.  Familiar materials include aluminum, iron, plastic, and foam.

  • Completed products include high-volume iron and aluminum truck parts such as axle brackets, bump stops, air beams, engine mount crossmembers, hubs, brake drums, and carrier housings.  Completed plastic component designs include both “A” side and “B” side of functional plastic components, and “B” sides of existing sculpted surfaces for dash panels, door panels, cabinets, glove boxes, and cup holders.  Examples of medical equipment include plastic rotomolded and blow molded chairs, reclining benches, and functional lifting arms for dental operatories.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Under contract to:
Dibble Engineering, Inc., Kirkland, WA
Civil Engineering Company

  • Build 3D models of steel utility structures per customer and state design criteria, generate 2D drawings detailing flat profiles and bend requirements for fabrication.

Under contract and direct for:
LifePort Inc., Woodland, WA
Air Medical Manufacturing Company

  • Research and design air medical devices, including utility benches, gurneys, sleds, and air stairs; design interior prototypes for fit-check in high-end luxury aircraft; design, document, and test ITAR-controlled military armor systems for in-theater operations.

Under contract to:
A-dec Dental, Newberg, OR
Dental Equipment Manufacturing Company

  • Develop 3D models from legacy 2D drawings and existing production parts; verify CAD data for permanent storage, generate neutral file format (IGES) for tooling development.  Generate required product specifications and performance evaluation protocol.

Under contract and direct for:
Consolidated Metco, Portland, OR
Truck Components Manufacturing Company

  • Develop new parts for manufacturing, redesign existing components, generate neutral files for rapid prototyping, develop tooling for production molds, build fixture assemblies for machining and quality control inspection, and develop test machine assemblies for product verification.
  • Setup, run, and evaluate MECHANICA stress analysis. Review results for applicability, determine performance based on stress patterns and magnitude, and outline further product refinements.
  • Complete 2D documentation per customer established protocol.
  • Special recognition: Worked on the development team for a new class-8 stabilizer arm, which won an award for design excellence and was employed in the Kenworth heavy-duty entry in the Pike's Peak race (1999).
